POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP POSTING — CHUM RESEARCH CENTRE Liquid biopsies are ushering in a new era in cancer diagnostics, making it possible to detect tumors from a simple blood draw. In this context, our laboratory is developing a next-generation molecular technology to improve the sensitivity and specificity of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) detection. This project offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a tangible biomedical advance at the intersection of technological innovation and precision medicine. This research program is fully funded and aims to change clinical practice in oncology.   The postdoctoral fellow will lead the development and validation of a novel experimental method with high clinical potential for liquid biopsies. The research program is fully funded and targets direct clinical impact. The goal is to create a robust, reproducible, and sensitive technology capable of identifying cancer-associated genetic alterations — with the ambition of transforming patient care. Candidate Profile We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral researcher driven by the ambition to transform clinical practice in oncology. The laboratory works in close collaboration with Dr. Antoine Desilets, a clinician-scientist at the CRCHUM with expertise in molecular oncology. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of spatial omics, tumor microenvironment (TME) biology, and multimodal data integration, under the co‑supervision of Dr Philippe Joubert and Dr Fabien Lamaze. The PhD project focuses on Diffuse Idiopathic Pulmonary Neuroendocrine Cell Hyperplasia (DIPNECH)—a rare and poorly understood precursor lesion that can progress to pulmonary carcinoid tumors. This understudied disease context provides a rare opportunity to make first‑in‑field discoveries with strong translational relevance. By leveraging spatial transcriptomics, deep genomic profiling, and TME‑focused analyses, the successful candidate will investigate clonal evolution and molecular mechanisms driving disease progression at high spatial resolution. The project is designed to generate impactful insights into lung cancer biology while providing rigorous training in advanced computational and analytical methods. Job Summary The Edwin S. H. Leong Centre for Healthy Aging (ELCHA) is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Data Analyst for the Canadian Microbiome Mapping Initiative (CMMI). The primary goal of the CMMI is to develop an integrated multi ‘omics platform to investigate the biological mechanisms and pathways by which the microbiome influences health and disease. This will include investigations into healthy aging as well as validation of the platform in clinical contexts, beginning with Parkinson’s disease. The successful candidate will serve as a data manager to liaise between the project’s different data generating and database development teams and facilitate the integration, analysis, and interpretation of datasets. Organizational Status The CMMI is a large, collaborative initiative involving investigators in the ELCHA, other UBC research centres, and external collaborators. The position works under the scientific and technical guidance of the CMMI Data Integration and Analysis Committee (Dr. Raymond Ng, Dr. Emilia Lim, and Dr. Keegan Korthauer), and reports to the CMMI Project Manager for day-to-day operations, prioritization, and project delivery. The position also works in close collaboration with CMMI investigators, bioinformaticians, laboratory personnel, and research staff.
