Description:

In support of the Prairie Cancer Research Consortium’s sequencing efforts, we’re looking for a full stack developer to collaborate with other Terry Fox Research Institute grantees to deploy, maintain and improve analysis+reporting systems for cancer cases being sequenced at the U of C’s CSM Centre for Health Genomics and Informatics. This is a two year on-site position with an AUPE TEC II designation at $80K/annum plus comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities:

Starting from stock virtual machines, the successful candidate will deploy, maintain and improve analysis+reporting systems for cancer cases, using a combination of existing pipelines for variant calling and variant interpretation/triage written largely in Python (including Snakemake) and covering the whole developer stack from authentication services through to React UI’s.

Qualifications:
  • Completed a post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Biological Sciences or other related fields.
  • Knowledge of data types and data formats associated with somatic mutation and germline genome analysis.
  • Extensive experience in using Linux-based systems, including package management.
  • Proficiancy in Python and shell programming.
  • Extensive experience using Github for collaborative projects.
Additional Information:

This position is part of a multi-institute collaborative project around cancer case research results reporting. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills, and work closely with developers and domain experts within the U of C and across Canadian institutions.
