Jacquemont, the Bioinformatician/Data Manager will be responsible for identifying, annotating, and analyzing genetic variants from genotyping and sequencing data (exome and whole genome). The project explores the impact of genetic variants on cognition, behavior, and psychiatric and neurodevelopmental traits.

Description du poste
Sous la responsabilité du directeur du Dr Jacquemont, le bioinformaticien/data-manager devra identifier, annoter et analyser des variants génétique à partir de données de génotypage et de séquençage (exome et génome complet). Le projet explore l’impact de variants génétiques sur la cognition, le comportement et les traits psychiatriques et neurodéveloppementaux. Le candidat sera responsable de :

Responsibilities:
  • Identification, annotation, and analysis of genomic structural variants. The data to be analyzed includes genotyping data on 800,000 individuals and sequencing data (exome and whole genome) on approximately 150,000 individuals;
  • Management and coordination of the laboratory’s bioinformatics work;
  • Development and writing of data processing procedures in the laboratory;
  • Organization and prioritization of data on servers (Compute Canada);
  • Documentation and communication on the analysis process, results, tools, and techniques used;
  • Interaction with laboratory members to develop analysis strategies.

  • Interaction avec les membres du laboratoire afin d’élaborer des stratégies d’analyses.
Qualifications:

Requirements and skills

  • Experience in coding in one of the following languages: Bash, Python, Matlab, R, Database query (MySQL, ElasticSearch), etc.;
  • Level of education: Master’s or PhD in bioinformatics, genomics;
  • Ability to work in a group on multiple projects;
  • Good data management skills.

Exigences et aptitudes

  • Maitrise ou PhD en bioinformatique, en génomique;
  • Expérience en code sur un des langages suivants : Bash, Python, Matlab, R, Database query (MySQL, ElasticSearch) etc…;
  • Capacité de travailler en groupe sur plusieurs projets;
  • Bonne compétence en « Data management ».

Position: Regular full-time (35 hours per week)
Expected start date: April 2023
Other: The candidate will also be required to travel to the GQ/McGill Innovation Center, as needed.
