The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), Canada’s Centre for Pandemic Research, is a world leader in infectious disease research and vaccine development for humans and animals. Located at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, VIDO is home to one of the largest and most advanced containment level 3 facilities in the world. To strengthen the preparedness for emerging infectious diseases we are currently expanding our infrastructure to include containment level 4 capacity, a GMP vaccine manufacturing facility, and a new animal housing facility. Our vision includes having the capacity to study any emerging disease in any animal model embracing a One Health approach to prevent emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in humans and animals.
Responsibilities:
Dr. Mohamed Helmy, Principal Investigator, Computational Systems Biology Lab is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow focusing on Multi-omics data analysis and Machine learning to join his team.
Multi-omics data analysis integrates data from multiple omics platforms to provide a comprehensive view of biological systems. It can help identify new targets for vaccine development, understand the mechanisms of action of vaccines, and develop new diagnostic tools in vaccine and infectious diseases research. Machine learning algorithms can analyze large and complex datasets generated by multi-omics experiments, identify patterns and relationships between different omics data layers, and develop predictive models for disease prevention. The successful candidate will work in project involve genome sequence assembly and analysis, RNA-Seq data analysis (bulk and single cell), developing machine learning algorithms for multi-omics data analysis and developing tools and databases.
Qualifications:
