From our Scientific Director, Michelle D. Brazas, PhD
I am delighted to share that Bioinformatics.ca’s application for the CIHR Health Research Training Platform was successful! Backed by CIHR, Genome Canada and other funding partners, Bioinformatics.ca is evolving into a nationwide initiative that scales our training and community for all. This initiative will be called The Canadian Bioinformatics Hub / Le Hub Canadien de Bio-informatique, with the goal to increase bioinformatics and data science capacity throughout Canada. Heartfelt thanks is extended to Francis Ouellette for seeding the dream of what bioinformatics in Canada could become, to our funders, and to the numerous colleagues past, present and future for your contributions!
Introducing the Canadian Bioinformatics Hub
The foundations laid by Bioinformatics.ca are enabling us to quickly expand and rebrand into the Canadian Bioinformatics Hub. Bioinformatics.ca is a well-known domain, and so there was consensus that Bioinformatics.ca will continue to be the website domain, becoming the place through which our trainees, faculty, partners, and collaborators all engage with The Hub and its training and community activities.
Hub Team
I am also thrilled to introduce The Hub’s team of emerging leaders who are committed to delivering this bold initiative. Please join me in welcoming them onboard, and reach out to get to know your region’s lead.
