Bioinformatician / Single-cell and cancer genomics

The candidate will work primarily with single-cell genomics and with bulk RNA-sequencing data in the new laboratory of Dr Vincent-Philippe Lavallee ( at CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center. CHU Sainte-Justine is affiliated with Université de Montréal and is the largest training center related to paediatrics in Québec. The laboratory will focus mainly on better understanding paediatric hematological cancers using patient samples, cell lines and mouse models. The candidate will develop and maintain the informatics infrastructure of the lab and will coordinate bioinformatics pipelines. He/she will also work in close collaboration with other laboratories at the research center and with the Leucegene group ( and he/she will be responsible of data analysis in selected projects.


  • Develop the laboratory informatics infrastructure;
  • Implement bulk and single cell genomics pipelines;
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to be executed on the servers;
  • Perform quality controls;
  • Become an expert in the analysis of single-cell genomics data;
  • Collaborate with other research groups and present results;
  • Work in close collaboration with lab members and help elaborating their analytical strategies;
  • Help lab members with the bases of bioinformatics.


  • Master degree in bioinformatics or equivalent.
  • A training in biological sciences (e.g. bachelor) is a plus.
  • Ideally at least 2 years of work experience related to cancer research.
  • Knowledgeable in genomics and epigenetics
  • Programming in R, Python, Linux/Unix
  • Gestion and coordination skills
