The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary The Research Institute of the MUHC (RI-MUHC) is looking for a highly motivated and skilled biostatistician to work with Dr. Sapir-Pichhadze on the Genome Canada funded Large Scale Applied Research Project, Precision Medicine Can PREVENT AMR, which is a national initiative for the development and implementation of tools, approaches and techniques aimed at the prevention of kidney transplant rejection. Under the guidance of the bioinformatics platform of the RI-MUHC, the employee will work in collaboration with Dr. Sapir-Pichhadze’s team and will be responsible for data management, statistical analysis and usage of high-performance computing for this project.
General Duties • Large datasets development and data management, • Statistical analyses on genetic data using standard statistical software, • Longitudinal data analysis (e.g. survival analyses, multilevel modeling, repeated measures analyses, competing risks, cluster analysis, random forests, etc.), • Utilization of high performance platforms such as Compute Québec / Compute Canada, Interpretation and summary of statistical analyses and results, • Generation of publication quality reports and graphics, • Participation in academic manuscript drafting, analytic plans and technical reports, • Collaboration with other researchers and statisticians.
• Graduate training in Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computational biology, Computer sciences, Statistics or Biostatistics, • Familiarity with human genetics and/or genetic statistics, • Experience with statistical programs such as R, STATA, SAS, • Familiarity with Compute Canada/Quebec Platforms is an advantage, • Experience in programming, • Self-directed, organized and able to work both independently and as a part of a team, • Excellent interpersonal skills, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and • English, • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
