Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Associate in Translational Bioinformatics and Environmental Management

We have several Genome Canada grants that require scholars who can bridge the gap between bioinformatics and the user community to help ensure that research deliverables are taken up.

Responsibilities:

Join 2 relatively large research projects (i.e., >100 team members) to perform original mixed methods research that helps increase understanding of how users interact with bioinformatics data and web tools (e.g., www.ecotoxxplorer.ca; www.metaboanalyst.ca), and in doing so, help translate this knowledge to help inform design updates to the tools. Direct interaction with the user community, especially those concerned with environmental management (i.e., academic, government, and industry scholars) is vital. Tasks will include original research design and execution, project and budget management, organizing knowledge dissemination and integration events, primary data collection, analysis and interpretation and integration of findings, and the preparation of written reports and oral presentations.

Qualifications:

PhD in the fields of bioinformatics, biology, environmental sciences, and/or social sciences, with proven examples of multi-disciplinary work that cuts across aforementioned fields. MSc degree with relevant experience will also be considered as a Research Associate or PhD student.
