Tenure track Assistant Professor in Biomedical Informatics

Date of Appointment: August 2019 The Computer Science Department is a highly progressive department with a vibrant and active faculty and students. Our department currently offers a Computer Science degree, an Information Science degree, and a Software Engineering degree. We also offer a Master’s of Science in Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI) and jointly offer a Master’s Program titled Human Computer Interaction (HCI) which has a significant Psychology component with emphasis on both human factors and software engineering. Recently, a number of new graduate programs have been created including a Professional Science Master’s degree in BHI, a Professional Science Master’s degree in HCI and graduate certificates in Integrated Health Systems and Health Information Technology. We also participate in offering interdisciplinary programs in Cognitive Science and Linguistics.


Description of Responsibilities: Demonstrated teaching in Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI). The successful candidate will also be required to engage in research and collaborate with biomedical informatics students on research or experiential projects, to assist the BHI director in service activities, and to promote students’ ability to succeed in a global community.

In addition, this position will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.


Required Qualifications: Terminal degree by the date of appointment in Biomedical Informatics, Bioengineering, Computer Science, Information Science, or related disciplines. Demonstrated teaching experience in Biomedical and Health Informatics, as well as an ability to teach in related areas in Information Science or Computer Science.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with online education and/or accreditation would be a plus.
