Postdoctoral Fellows in bioinformatics, cancer immunogenomics, machine/deep learning

Wang Lab has a computational lab and a wet-lab for single-cell genomics. Wang Lab is mainly working on cancer genomics and immunogenomics. Wang Lab has reputation in the field, has published a series of high-profile journal papers, and the contribution of cancer systems biology has been featured in the college textbook, Genetics. Most of the lab members have published papers as the FIRST AUTHORS in high-profile journals such as JAMA Oncology, Nature Communications, Nature Cancer, JAMA Network Open, Genome Research, Molecular Systems Biology and so on. Two major directions: (1) large-scale data mining for insights into cancer and developing predictive models for cancer; (2) conducting single-cell genomics of cancer regulatory networks via combining ‘dry’ and ‘wet’ lab approaches.

To succeed as one of Canada’s top universities, where new ideas are created, tested and applied through first class teaching and research, the University of Calgary needs more of the best minds in our classrooms and labs. We’re increasing our scholarly capacity by investing in people who want to change the world, bringing the best and brightest to Calgary to form a global intellectual hub and achieve advances that matter to everyone. Named a cultural capital of Canada and one of the best places to live in the world, Calgary, Canada’s fastest growing major city, offers a vibrant, multicultural and family-oriented environment with a population of more than one million. Situated near the Rocky Mountains, Banff National Park and Lake Louise, Calgary has great quality of life and outstanding recreational activities.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to join the bioinformatics team to conduct either data mining, developing machine/deep learning predictive models or/and taking part in analysis of single-cell data and cancer regulatory networks.

Qualifications:

A PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics/math, and theoretical physics. Required skills: (1) Strong programming skills in one or more of the following programming languages: Perl, Python, R or others; (2) Knowledge in probability theory, machine learning or deep learning.
