Post-doctoral fellow-Bioinformatics/Modeling

LOCATION: Consumer and Clinical Radiation Protection Bureau, Product Safety Programme, Health Canada, Ottawa, Ontario

MANDATE OF BUREAU: To research, health risks and safety hazards associated with exposure to ionizing radiation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge in radiobiology and adverse outcome pathways (AOP- www.aopwiki.org) would be an asset. Experience in bioinformatics, modeling techniques i.e. GEANT-DNA, C++, machine learning, data manipulation.

DUTIES

An Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP) has been developed to lung cancer following OECD’s Users’ handbook (www.aopwik.org). The AOP flow diagram will be used to identify threshold doses need to achieve each of the key events in the AOP using both modeling and empirical evidence.

Responsibilities:

1) The PDF will be required to learn EFfectopedia (https://www.effectopedia.org/)

2) The PDF will develop an optimized approach to quantify the key events from the AOP using empirical evidence that will be provided through the literature

3) The PDF will model the deposition of energy from a cell to organ level using GEANT-DNA or equivalent type software

4) The PDF will draft manuscripts

Qualifications:
