Bioinformatics Web Developer

The JBrowse genome browser project is recruiting a new developer to work in the distributed team that is building JBrowse2. We use modern web technologies (like React, webpack, web workers, ES2019, TypeScript…) and address cutting-edge problems in genomics visualization and analysis: things like gene fusions, genome alignments, long-read sequencing, AI in the browser, cancer informatics, and other related fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Programming for the JBrowse genome browser
  • Teamwork (conference calls, backlog grooming calls, code reviews, planning/management calls)
  • Open Source project responsibilities (engage with users, answer GitHub issues, etc)
  • Independently develop new methods and techniques

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or programming-related field
