Tenure Track Data Scientist/Biostatistician

This tenure track appointment is to the Department of Public Health Sciences but based in the Canadian Cancer Trials Group. The member’s workload will have 75% committed time to the Canadian Cancer Trials Group and 25% committed time for independent research, graduate teaching and supervision in the Department of Public Health Sciences.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence. Candidates must provide evidence of an ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student-centred environment. The successful candidate will be required to make substantive contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community.

The successful candidate will join a team of senior biostatisticians at Canadian Cancer Trials Group who: 1) provide leadership and technical support for research involving data derived from tumor specimens and other biomarkers along with observational data; and 2) oversee, in collaboration with multidisciplinary study teams, statistical and design aspects of a portfolio of cancer clinical trials.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Sciences or equivalent degree completed by the start date of the appointment. They will be expected to have: 1) proficiency in statistical and computer programming; 2) experience with clinical studies that incorporate cancer biomarkers with an aim of developing precision therapy; 3) the ability to design and analyze translational science or other types of studies which involve high dimensional data; 4) strong written and verbal communication skills; 5) potential to lead peer-reviewed externally funded research; and 6) a demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with students and colleagues.
