Master/PhD positions in bioinformatics and computational biology

Master and PhD student positions are available in the Laboratory of Computational Biology and Biophysics (https://panchenko-lab.org) which studies factors contributing to disease mutation occurrence in DNA, to discover molecular mechanisms of how these mutations can affect proteins, protein interactions, and dynamics of chromatin.

Responsibilities:

The prospective master and graduate students will perform data analysis and design of computational methods that involve machine learning/AI or molecular modeling - to offer insights into the basis of cancer mutagenesis, DNA repair and their contribution to cancer etiology. Laboratory works in close collaborations with several experimental groups in Canada and USA, and candidates are expected to work in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications:

  • proficiency in linux command line;
  • proficiency in R or python programming;
  • solid knowledge of statistical methods.
