The role will involve executing existing workflows for analyses and contributing to data visualization and interpretation, as well as opportunities to develop and test new custom workflows and data solutions for genomic, metagenomic, and metatranscriptomic data.

Responsibilities:

• Execute common workflows and contribute data analysis and interpretation across a range of product R&D projects with high-throughput sequencing output related to microbiome sequencing (16S/amplicon sequencing, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics), and human ‘omics

• Contribute to workflow, code, and database maintenance and optimization

• Develop new analysis workflows as required under direction of lead bioinformatician by evaluating new software, coding and testing pipelines, and evaluating data outputs

• Communicate data analysis outcomes with visualizations and data reports, as well as via meeting with project team members and lead bioinformatician

• Data management, data backups, proper documentation of data and code

Education Undergraduate or graduate degree in in one or more of bioinformatics, computer science, biological sciences, chemistry, microbiology, statistics or applied mathematics, or another related field

Experience

• Proficient in R, Unix/Linux based system, Shell scripting

• Proficient in Python or Perl or similar scripting languages

• Familiarity with GitHub and version control

• Practical experience with high-throughput sequence data, specifically microbiome datasets (16S, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics) as demonstrated with publications or project history

• Familiarity with publicly available tools and databases for microbiome analysis

• Experience in cloud computing environments, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 and S3

Abilities

• Able to independently manage and work on multiple concurrent projects

• Able to work and communicate effectively in a team
