If so, the Centre for Computational Medicine (CCM), a core facility within the world-renowned Sickkids Research Institute, is interested in hiring you.

CCM provides the scientific community with expertise in bioinformatics, high-performance computing (HPC), and machine learning. Genomics and health data volumes are expanding rapidly, and make entirely new types of health research and clinical decision-making possible. The CCM is currently developing several exciting projects to analyze diverse biomedical data.


We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatician to work on the cutting edge of some of the fastest growing areas of applications: data science, analysis of large biomedical datasets, genomics and bioinformatics. You will work in a multi-disciplinary research team that serves the data-analysis needs of the SickKids Research Institute and many other collaborators across Canada and beyond. Your day-to-day work will involve: • Analysis of large sequencing datasets for variant discovery and prioritization. • Developing and maintaining existing pipelines and identifying and testing new tools • Integrative analysis from multiple data types generated internally as well as use of publicly available omics datasets • Documenting your software tools and pipelines, presenting your analysis results to colleagues.


• B. Sc or M. Sc in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or Biology with a background in bioinformatics or a related field. • Experience developing and implementing algorithms for the processing of large genomics and biomedical data sets. • Experience with WGS/WES is essential. Experience with RNA-seq and other omics is a plus. • Familiarity with running applications on HPC clusters is highly desirable. • Background in biology, genetics, and statistics, to understand the scientific requirements of the applications to be developed. • Proficiency in Linux and writing scripts in Bash is essential • Proficiency in Python is essential and experience using R beneficial • Experience working with and managing databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL and others
