Head, Data Science

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join the Adela team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, dynamic, and collaborative company delivering cutting-edge technology directly to clinicians. As the Head of Data Science, you will be to define and implement an overall strategy for the treatment of complex molecular and clinical data for biomarker applications in human health and disease. The ideal candidate will be able to build and develop a team of data scientists, execute projects, and interface with cross-functional teams including clinical and lab operations.

Responsibilities:

Define and implement a technically advanced data science strategy.

Create and implement a data governance and data integration strategy.

Implement analytical approaches including machine learning and advanced statistical modelling for integration of biomolecular and clinical data streams.

Develop a long-term strategy for maintaining and maturing data analysis approaches and productizing data for future upside opportunities.

Ability to attract, hire, and inspire world-class data scientists.

Develop the data science team through mentorship and by building a culture of rigorous decision making that rewards truth-seeking behavior.

Champion data-driven approaches across the organization.

Qualifications:

PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or related fields with a focus cancer, genetics, and/or epigenetics.

A strong publication record.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in academia or the biotech industry in a R&D capacity.

Experience with managing high performance computing environments.

Expertise in genomics, epigenomics, and/or transcriptomics.

Skilled with statistical modeling and machine learning approaches in biomedicine.

An ability to develop and encourage cross-functional working relationships.

An ability to organize and prioritize resources to ensure short- and long-term targets are met.

Skilled at innovation, team leadership and strategic planning.

Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
