Machine Learning in Computational Cancer Biology

A postdoctoral position in computational cancer biology is available in the lab of Dr. Venkata Manem at the Quebec Heart and Lung Research Center (IUCPQ) in Quebec City, Canada. The Manem lab works on the application of bioinformatics and machine learning approaches to characterize the molecular mechanisms of cancer, with the aim to develop genomically-driven personalized treatments. The position is for an initial one-year with an opportunity to extend for another year. This position is available immediately, but starting date is negotiable. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate. The annual salary with benefits will be given according to the Laval university PDF collective agreement.

Responsibilities:

The PDF researcher will work on developing predictive biomarkers of immunotherapy response utilizing OMICS and imaging profiles by employing machine learning/deep learning approaches, as well as investigate the role of radiation therapy in augmenting immunotherapy response. This ongoing project will leverage unique multi-dimensional datasets (genomics, medical images, pathological slides and immune profiles) generated at the Quebec Heart & Lung Research Center. The candidate will have access to computational infrastructures and will establish collaborations with experts in different disciplines.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or other related fields • Highly motivated and self-driven candidate who thinks independently • Ability to thrive in a collaborative research environment • Expertise in Machine Learning/Deep Learning • Strong programming experience (R, Python) • Experience with high performance computing infrastructure • Strong publication record • Ability to write and publish results in scientific journals
