Research Project Manager - Bioinformatics

Provincial Health Services Authority (Department of Medical Oncology) enables health services providers to become leaders in providing patient-centered health care, using enterprise standards and frameworks to deliver useful information and clinical tools reliably and consistently, anytime, anywhere. IMITS manages over 300 applications across business, clinical and research environments, serving over 50,000 front line, administrative and research staff to enable over 4.8 million patient encounters a year. As a successful candidate, you will deliver support to enable PHSA, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Health Care (PHC) to become leaders in providing patient-centered health care. You have initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem solving abilities, as well as excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Establish detailed research project charter, plans and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables. Execute project plan according to project methodologies, ensures successful and coordinated completion of project components, consult with stakeholders as needed and ensure readiness for project implementation.

• Track research project progress according to project plan and identified metrics. Monitor and report on the status of projects and major barriers encountered. Make recommendations to Principal Investigator or Leader regarding research projects scope and related changes required to facilitate a successful outcome. Implement or contribute to the implementation of effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle.

• The research focus of this posting is in translational research and clinical trials for gastrointestinal cancers, with a particular focus on colorectal cancer.

• Participate in the development and monitoring of research project budgets within the context of operations demands and environmental and resource constraints and use best practice methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets.

• Provide leadership by giving advice or guidance in situations that require interpretation and judgment.

Qualifications:

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Health Services Administration, or relevant health care discipline. A minimum of five (5) year’s recent, related experience in project management and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups. Project Management Professional designation considered an asset. Experience or working knowledge of quality improvement methodology and change management is key to the success of this role. Excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment including ability to communicate with the physician community. Computer literacy with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management and database applications.
