Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Biology / Bioinformatics

A postdoctoral position in computational biology / bioinformatics is available in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Pavlidis, in the Departments of Psychiatry and the Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. The Pavlidis lab works on the development, evaluation, and application of computational methods to understand gene function and regulation in the nervous system.

The position is for an initial one-year term with opportunity for extension. The start date is negotiable but expected to be before the end of 2021. Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience, and includes benefits.

Responsibilities:

The position will play a key role in projects directed at large-scale analysis of gene expression and other genomics data (including single-cell data), with applications to the study of human brain function, disease, and genetics. There are opportunities to collaborate with clinical and basic laboratory researchers. More information on the lab is available at https://pavlab.msl.ubc.ca.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have, or be expected to earn prior to appointment, a PhD in a relevant area (e.g. statistics, computer science, bioinformatics, or neuroscience). The ideal candidate will have a background in neuroscience, genomics, and data science, but individuals with a range of relevant skills and experience are encouraged to apply.
