Postdoctoral position in bioinformatics (Yeast genomics & metabolomics)

In collaboration with Escarpment Laboratories, a yeast supplier for Canadian breweries, we provide a vibrant, fast-paced research and development environment focussed on discovery, transparency and the transfer of data-based knowledge to the brewing community. We seek to improve our knowledge related to beer yeast genetics, brewing efficiency, and flavour diversification. Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in bioinformatics to explore the intersection between yeast genomics, metabolomics, and fermentation efficiency.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in yeast genomics. Advanced genome structure and sequence analyses skills are critical. In addition, strong, established experience with yeast metabolomics and physiology will be a major asset. Research will involve both targeted questions and creative and innovative approaches to increase the knowledge base for beer yeast capabilities in brewing.

• Design experiments for both your own work, and aid in experimental design for lab staff and co-op students. • Analyze research data, summarize, and present internally. • Create and revise SOPs for genomic data queries as necessary. • Participate in the development of critical research project(s) based on the analyses of genomic, phenotypic and metabolomic data. • Work effectively within a team motivated and creative scientists.

• A PhD or similar experience in bioinformatics and genomics. Programming experience will be essential. • Established experience with yeast metabolomics and physiology will be beneficial. • Effective written and oral communication in a fast-paced environment. • Record and maintain data in a project management tool. • Previous experience working in teams to complete complex projects is desired. • Proven experience in data analysis and statistics is desired. • Strong skills in scientific writing and oral presentation are desired.
