The Brinkman Laboratory at Simon Fraser University (Greater Vancouver, B.C., Canada) has a unique opening for a database developer position as part of a national project involving the integration of select data for the Canadian Healthy Infant Longitudinal Development (CHILD) Study (http://childstudy.ca).

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team of software/database developers, bioinformaticians, data curators and biologists, including our national and international collaborators. Tasks will include updating data from external databases, targeted improvements to the user interface, and the integration of additional rich data as part of a newly funded project.

Qualifications:

The qualified applicant will have a bachelor’s degree in computer science and experience using SQL and relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL preferred). Additional experience using NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, version control systems (Git) and/or containerization (Docker) is an asset. A biology/bioinformatics background is preferred but not essential since mentorship will be provided.
