LIMS/ELN application developer
DNA LandMarks (a BASF Plant Science Company) seeks applicants for a position of LIMS/ELN application developer. As part of the IT staff of DNA LandMarks and the global LIMS sub-function, the LIMS/ELN application developer will be primarily responsible for developing, implementing and supporting LIMS and ELN solution. In addition, this position will also support scientists using LIMS and ELN applications for tracking their research processes in a laboratory environment at the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu site. The applicant might also undertake collaborative initiatives with other BASF colleagues in North America and Europe. Tasks related to this position will involve, but are not limited to:
• Developing new LIMS functionalities and enhancing or extending existing LIMS applications for scientists.
• Responding to user questions.
• Testing changes/updates.
• Helping create & maintain application documentation (ie. user manuals, training documents).
• Helping with training of users.
• Assuming day-to-day support of LIMS and ELN applications
• Implementing the ELN application to replace handwritten lab notebooks.
Required qualifications:
A BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or related science with at least 1 year application development experience, or College degree with at least 3 years application development experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of development tools such as .NET Framework 2.0 or higher versions (ASP, VB, C#), PHP, Perl, JavaScript, AJAX.
Strong knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, SQL and PL/SQL, MySQL
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Java and web services
Experience working in a biotechnology, R&D or regulated environment
Experience supporting and developing ELN and/or LIMS applications
Additional education in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience would be an asset
Personal Skills:
The applicant should have strong analytical training, verbal and written communication skills, organizational ability, and initiative.
DNA LandMarks offers a bilingual working environment, and knowledge of both French and English is desirable.
